Ginger beer and a turmeric simple syrup add spice to John's Mumbai Mule Cocktail, a riff on the classic Moscow Mule.

"I kind of stole the name from one of [our] favorite Indian restaurants in New York City, GupShup," John says. "It's sort of like a Moscow Mule, but I added some Indian spices."

To make John's ginger-turmeric simple syrup, heat ½ cup water with ½ cup sugar in a small saucepot until sugar dissolves. Add a few slices of fresh ginger and turmeric root and let cool. Store in the fridge.

Pair this cocktail with Rach's Indian-inspired Chicken + Apple Curry with Almond Rice Pilaf, Mint-Chili Raita, and Naan. Rach also likes to serve this drink with her Chickpea Curry.
