Even though Rachael is, in her own words, DIY challenged, she can never resist a *super* simple home hack, and this one's pretty awesome!
We got to hang out with hosts of HGTV's "Home Town" and authors of Make Something Good Today, Erin and Ben Napier, who showed us how to keep the cost down on a fancy home accent: a chandelier!
"I love expensive light fixtures that are way out of my budget," Erin says, and basket pendant lights, she tells us, can easily cost up to $600!
So, she just *had* to figure out a way to achieve the look without breaking the bank.
Watch them demonstrate in the video above and follow the three simple steps below.
1. Choose a Basket
Pick up an antique basket at a thrift store that'll create the cage for the fixture.
2. Tape + Drill
Put a little tape at the top of the basket (so that it doesn't shred when you drill it), then drill a hole through the tape.
3. Light It Up
Buy a pendant light kit (which you can get, Erin says, for around $15 from a hardware store). For fire safety, Ben suggests getting a LED or low wattage light bulb so that it stays cool in the basket.
Thread the cord through the hole, turn it on, and you've got a beautiful new light fixture!
How easy is that?!
