When it comes to anti-aging treatments, Botox is a popular option. But, if you're looking for needle-free options when it comes to anti-aging, we've got the scoop.

Board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss shares some great alternatives to Botox that wll help your skin look more youthful, without injections.

Ultherapy

"Ultherapy is a noninvasive treatment [available from a dermatologist] that uses an ultrasound to lift the skin on the chest, brow, neck and chin. It's the only treatment approved by the FDA to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines," Dr. Idriss says.

"It works by directing ultrasound energy under the skin at just the right temperature to trigger collagen regeneration. Rather than relying on neurotoxins or fillers, Ultherapy uses the human body's collagen-creating process to produce results that are noticeable," she explains.

Microneedling

"Another great alternative to Botox is Microneedling, which is when your doctor uses a device to make tiny holes in the top layer of your skin. The damage helps stimulate your skin's healing process, so it produces more collagen and elastin. These proteins keep your skin firm and smooth," Dr. Idriss says.

"This can be done on your legs, back, neck or other areas where you notice damaged or aging skin," she adds.

The benefits can be seen through improved appearance and texture of your skin by minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars.

"Microneedling also makes it easier for your skin to absorb and benefit from serums, moisturizers and other topical treatments. The micro-punctures let the products penetrate deeper, producing more powerful effects," Dr. Idriss explains.

"This treatment is something that can be done at home with a microneedling device you can buy at your local beauty store, but you have to be careful not to inflame your skin.
